Promising start to 2012!

General

2012 has had a very promising start.

Existing home sales improved in January from the previous month by 4.3 percent, pointing to improved sales in 2012 if the trend holds.

The latest pending sales level, at 97.0 is at its highest in the last five years, not counting the spikes caused by the home buyer tax credit in 2009 and 2010.

Conditions today ad over the next 6 months hold much more promise than they did at year's end.

No big changes are expected in buyer and seller traffic, though, which suggest a portion of the activity could be fueled by investors looking to buy existing foreclosures.

Still, with interest rates at continued historic levels, this is a great time to either b...

Factors to weigh before renting out your home

General
Do you have a home that you feel you don't want to sell right now but you want to move?  Are you thinking about renting out your personal home?If so, please consider these factors before doing so:1. Does your home have pricey upgrades that might be destruction-prone?  If so, factor that into your decision making... and into the deposit and monthly rent price if you do decide to rent it. If your flooring and paint are livable, I would advise you to rent it out in its current condition and wait to paint and redo flooring until after the tenants leave - and before you sell.2. Research your local rental market. Call our realtor or property management company to find out what the rent rates ar... Read Full Post →

Housing Affordability!

General

According to the National Association of Home Builders, housing affordability rose to a RECORD HIGH during the fourth quarter of 2011.

What does that mean?  It means that a home buyer's purchasing power is greater than it ever has been before.

This report indicates that home ownership is within reach of more households than it has been in more than two decades.  The biggest hurdle, though, is overly restrictive lending conditions confronting home buyers.  However, interest rates are at a historic low - so even though getting a loan may be more difficult - it is sure worth it!

Selling your home?

General

Here are two tips for you today if you are trying to sell your home!

1. Make sure your kitchen countertops are cleared of as much clutter as possible!  Have no more than three appliances on your countertops.

Remove extra items such as knife blocks, phones, and baskets - these will make your countertop look smaller than they really are!

2. Highlight your kitchen's center island. Make it a focal point with greenery such as an orchid or a bowl of fresh fruit!  If it is big enough, put some bar stools there and if you don't have an island, and there is plenty of room for one, bring in a portable one to add space.

Also, if your kitchen is lacking color - bring in such pretty colored ...

Four Quick Tips for Getting A Home Ready To Sell!

General

Do you want to get your home sold quickly and for the highest amount of money?  I am sure you do!  Here are a few tips that will help you get this done

1. Make sure that your home is SUPER CLEAN   Make it shine from top to bottom and don't forget to clean your windows and carpets, as well  It needs to SMELL clean, too.  If you have "doggy odor" or "kitty litter odor"  it is going to be a real turn off to potential buyers

2. Clear out the clutter.  Get rid of furniture if you need to - rent a storage unit - but too much furniture makes a home feel smaller and claustrophobic.  Remove unnecessary items from countertops, bathtubs, and shower stalls.  And by the way, make sure your bathroo...
